Wanted: some boring white guy to be Mitt Romney’s VP candidate.

So far, Romney’s campaign has revolved around an ‘I’m-not-going-to-do-what-McCain-did-strategy,’ which will likely produce an “anti-Palin” Vice Presidential candidate. A Republican official said that Romney is not looking for a flashy candidate, like Palin. His search will be more rigorous, probably resulting in one of the following four: Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Indian Gov. Mitch Daniels, or Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.

As candidates go, McCain and Romney are about as different as they get—or as different as politicians can get.
