Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS is up with one of the most cynical ads of the campaign season so far, a negative attack ad that goes after Obama for being too negative in his attack ads:

That opening footage seem familiar? It’s from Obama’s speech at the memorial for those killed in the Tuscon, AZ shooting rampage, a speech given just after Representative Gabrielle Giffords had emerged from her gunshot-inflicted coma. It was a distinctly non-partison event in which Obama called for a return to civility following the killing of fourteen people. Nice to know that’s up for grabs for in an attack ad. 

Where to go from there? The ad quotes Peggy Noonan calling Obama’s campaign one of “Divide and conquer.” Should we mention that Noonan is hardly a independent source for a Republican ad, or that we have an actual Republican, caught on actual tape, actually calling “divide and conquer” his strategy?
